We have a great selection of something new, something famous and something award-winning in this selection.
The Wedge 2019: a beautifully balanced blend of grapes that is not always associated with South Africa: Shiraz, Mourvedre and Viognier. It's full of dark fruits with a peppery edge.
Darling Chocoholic Pinotage 2018: This wine is award-winning as well as new. A gold award at IWSC and 92 points from Tim Atkin. The wine is off-dry with dark chocolate, cherries and plum.
DeMorgenzon Garden Vineyards Rose 2020: This rosè was handpicked and destemmed before very gentle crushing to maintain minimal skin contact. This gives the wine a very pale pink hue. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel to leave a fresh fruit pallet. A beautiful summer sunshine wine, fresh nose of summer flowers, exotic spice and summer rind.
Warwick First Lady Sauvignon Blanc 2019: The name suggest it may have been named after America's First Lady, but no, it was named after Norma Ratcliffe, the First Lady winemaker in the Cape. This wine is famous for it's wines particularly in the US and in South Africa with their beautiful picnic setting at the vineyard.
Something Award Winning
Raats was the first winemaker to receive five 5 star awards from the John Platter wine awards in 2018. This is a monumental achievement bu a winery and has not been repeated yet. Not to say any of these other wines are any less spectacular, but I think they deserve a small round of applause, in the form of 2 of their wines.
